Organist vacancy - St Mary’s Episcopal Church, Aberfoyle

St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Aberfoyle, is seeking an organist for its regular worship, which takes place at 11.15 a.m. each Sunday. Remuneration is in accordance with the Royal School of Church Music rates for time and travel expenses.

St. Mary's is in a linked parish with St. Andrew's in Callander but this advertisement relates to St. Mary's only. St. Mary's is in an experimental phase of sharing its worship with the Parish Church which is without a minister and is not calling.

At present, although this may well change to allow for more Episcopalian worship, the order of services is:

First Sunday - Joint Morning Worship with hymns at Aberfoyle Parish Church

Second Sunday - Service of the Word with hymns at St Mary's Episcopal Church (followed by said Communion)

Third Sunday - Joint Morning Worship with hymns at St Mary's Episcopal Church (followed by said Communion)

Fourth Sunday - Sung Communion at St. Mary's Episcopal Church (Schubert settings for Gloria etc)

Fifth Sunday (when there is one) - Presbyterian Sung Communion at Aberfoyle Parish Church

St. Mary's has for some years organised monthly matinee chamber music concerts - "Third Sunday at Three" - three of which in each season are organ recitals. These are entirely separate from the church duties (though occasional advice might be gratefully accepted!)

The Organ:

It is a Binns Willis organ in the English style, of a size commensurate with the church, and does allow some creativity. Two mechanical action manuals and electric pedals, and 18 stops: Gedackt 8, Aeoline 8, Viola 4, Quartane 12.15, Tremelo, Bordun 16, Swell to Pedal, Great to Pedal, Swell to Great, Open Diapason 8, Flute 8, Principal 4, Fifteenth 2, Oboe 8. It has 56 keys.

The organ in Aberfoyle Parish Church requires some attention and we do not have details of it.

To apply or for further information, please contact Vestry Secretary, Elizabeth Roads at snawdoun@gmail.com, or telephone 01877 389373.
